About staying in the Canary Islands in winter.
In recent decades, many hibernators have opted to stay on one of the Spanish Costa´s or Mallorca, but they are increasingly demanding. Not only is the climate in the Canary Islands significantly better than on mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, the accommodations are also generally of a higher standard. Long-term stays during the winter in the Canary Islands are particularly popular in the islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, but in recent years Lanzarote and Fuerteventura have also become very popular. The islands have a very wide range of apartments and villas, which welcome the hibernators in winter. All facilities are abundantly available and there is a good infrastructure.
Climate in Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura is suitable as a holiday destination all year round. This island is the sunniest island of the Canary Islands. On average, there is only about 140 to 180 millimeters of precipitation on an annual basis (long-term average). Because the rainfall on average remains below two hundred millimeters per year, there is a warm desert climate.

Temperature
The temperature in Fuerteventura is almost always spring-like to summer. In the winter months the temperatures vary from 20 to 25 degrees; in the summer months the mercury rises to 28 to 33 degrees Celsius. If the Calima blows from the Sahara towards Fuerteventura, it can get warmer. However, due to the cool wind from the sea, it remains a good place to stay. At night it stays sultry for a long time in the summer. In the winter period it can cool down a bit in the evening and it is nice to put on a cardigan.

Sea water temperature
It is possible to swim in the sea all year round. In the summer, the wind generally blows harder and the sea is calmer. This period is therefore a favorite with kite and windsurfers. In winter there is less wind and (depending on the beach) there may be high waves that are very suitable for wave surfing.
